Toss Up

Cook Political Report upgrades CA-11 from "Leans Republican" to "Toss Up".

I'll be interested to see how this grabs those trying to handicap this race (and get the narrative "right").

Abramoff scandal not over for Pombo

1. Abramoff is talking so much he needs his own FBI "desk".

2. Federal prosecutors requested Abramoff be placed in a nearby Maryland prison for easy access.

3. US News and World Report says that the Abramoff probe is expanding rather than wrapping up.

This is not over for Pombo. Note for Contra Costa Times Editorial board: Pombo may soon find himself "adequately explaining" his relationship with Abramoff with the assistance of Legal Counsel.

Shorter Contra Costa Times Editorial Board

Shorter Contra Costa Times Editorial Board:

Dear Readers: Please vote for Pombo based on what he and George Bush say they believe in - you know, things like "limited government" and "development of alternative fuels". Go sift through Pombo's voting record and cavalcade of ethical violations on your own time.

Also, there is this nugget:

"McNerney was not the choice of the Democratic Party in the primary."

McNerney's landslide primary victory must have caused quite the hiccup in their little brains.

My Advice for Brian Kennedy

Local news coverage here where Pombo toady Brian Kennedy says the following: "Congressman Pombo didn't know Jack Abramoff"

Richard Pombo in a January 2006 interview:
Interviewer: Have you ever met Jack Abramoff?

Pombo: Yeah. I've met him. I've seen him probably, I don't know maybe, half a dozen times.
Um, different big Republican events n'stuff. And I had lunch one time, I was having lunch with John Doolittle, and Abramoff came in and sat down and had... John invited him to have lunch with us and he sat down. I had never met him before that. That was probably, I don't know maybe 4 years ago. It was the first time I met him.

Mr. Kennedy, stop, drop, and roll because you're pants are on fire.

Does Pombo have confidence in his man Hastert?

He did when he asked Hastert to attend a fundraiser last May.

Does Pombo think Hastert should resign if Hastert knew 5 months ago about Rep. Foley's sexually explicit communications with a 16 year old male Congressional page and covered it up?

I'd sure like to know.
